VET2VET Program of Putnam County

Services for Veterans, Run By Veterans

Our approach is best defined by New York State (NYS) Senator and veteran Lee Zeldin, "It is not always easy for family and friends to understand the demons haunting some of our soldiers when they return from combat. The value of the Dwyer Program lies in the unique Vet-to-Vet approach that connects our returning soldiers with those who can relate and who can draw from their own experiences to help one another cope."

SEMPER FI PARENTS OF THE HUDSON VALLEY

SFPHV is a volunteer organization that has been active in the community since 2005. Started originally by Marine mom, Paula Zwillinger, in 2004 upon realizing that there was little information available to support her when her son Bob enlisted. Her son Bob was killed in action in 2005 in Fallujah. The organization is inclusive of ALL MILITARY HEROES and for ALL FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS and SUPPORTERS. THE WALL

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall website is dedicated to honoring those who died in the Vietnam War. Since it first went on line in 1996 it has evolved into something more. It is now also a place of healing for those affected by one of the most divisive wars in our nation's history.

THE VIRTUAL WALL

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC honors those who died in the Vietnam War. Their relatives and friends leave letters, poems, and photographs at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and on this website. We bring the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to your home to help remember the sacrifices of the fallen and their families.

There are 4,127 names on The Wall from New York. You can go to the Virtual Wall and click on any name to go to that person's Memorial page.

BEYOND THE WALL

This link will take you to the HBO Special that was done on the NEW Vietnam Veterans Center. It is very nicely done and is well worth your time.

WAR STORIES

Over 500 stories by the Men and Women who were actually there.

OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS

Our Fallen Soldier, was founded on August 1, 2006 following the loss of our son, brother and uncle Sgt. Kyle Colnot who was KIA 22 April 2006 outside of Baghdad, Iraq.

The focus of this organization is two fold, to honor Kyle and his 4,270 Brothers and Sisters in arms who have paid the ultimate price for their country and the liberation of others. This is done by offering free web pages where each and every fallen hero can be remembered.

Secondly to provide financial support for the loved ones left behind. The armed forces does provide specific family members assistance with travel to and from funerals, but does not provide financial support to others. In our case, and in the case of a family we very recently helped, siblings did not receive military travel assistance. Many other needs will be identified and addressed.

CANADA'S NORTH WALL

In honor of the brave men who served the United States and gave their lives during the Vietnam War, welcome home to our Brothers from the land up north

POW-MIA MONUMENT TEXAS

POW-MIA

So many fates are left unknown
And so many rumors that abound
So many families ask the question
"When will, the answers be found?"

So many years have come and gone
Sometimes, hope is hard to keep
There's some who feel there's none
And in some, it's buried deep.

The pain, is in not knowing
How, to put loved ones to rest
When there is no way to prove
They have passed, the final test.

But, no matter what the answers
We can't let this cause alone
Until, each and every one of them
Is found, and brought back home.
